Landscape Projects, Patios & Retaining Walls in Eagan
Paver patios, retaining walls, new plantings and bed renovations, designed and built by the same crew that maintains South Metro yards all year. Everything is built to hold up through Minnesota freeze-thaw.

- Locally owned & operated
- [TBD: years in business]
- Serving Eagan & the South Metro
Highlights
-
Hardscape built on a real base
Patios and walls fail from the ground up. We excavate, compact and drain properly so frost heave doesn't lift your pavers in year three.
-
Plantings that survive here
Zone 4–5 hardy trees, shrubs and perennials, chosen for your sun, soil and how close they sit to salted driveways.
-
Design and build, one team
We walk the property with you, put the plan and price in writing, then build it. No handoffs between designers and installers.
-
Maintained after install
New plantings do best with follow-up care. Seasonal lawn and snow customers get the same crew looking after the work year-round.
How a landscape project works
- On-site consultation to walk the property, talk goals and check grades and drainage
- A written proposal with scope, materials and price before any work starts
- Utility locates through Gopher State One Call before we dig
- Excavation, base prep, installation and cleanup by our own crew
- A walkthrough when the project is done
Landscape projects are one-time by nature, but most clients add seasonal maintenance afterward so the new work gets cared for.
Landscape design and installation for South Metro yards
A good landscape project fits how you actually use your yard: a patio sized for your table and grill, a retaining wall that fixes a slope instead of just decorating it, or beds that look full without needing constant work.
Hardscaping: patios, walkways and retaining walls
In Minnesota, hardscape is only as good as what’s underneath it. Our freeze-thaw cycles push water into every weak spot, and each freeze lifts whatever is sitting on top. Every patio, walkway and wall we build starts with proper excavation, a compacted aggregate base and a drainage plan. That work is invisible when the project is finished, and it’s why the project still looks right years later.
Plantings and bed renovations
Overgrown beds, tired foundation plantings and bare spots can often be fixed without starting over. We edit what’s working, remove what isn’t, and replant with shrubs and perennials that are hardy here and suited to the spot. Then we finish with clean bed edges and mulch.
Built by the crew that maintains it
Because we also handle lawn care and snow removal, we build with the rest of the year in mind. That means leaving room for plows and snow piles, keeping plantings back from salt spray, and designing beds a mower can get around.
Landscape Projects questions
When is the best time to plan a landscape project in Minnesota?
Plan in winter and build from spring through fall. Once the ground freezes, usually from December into March, excavation and base work stop. Spring and early summer fill up fast, so projects designed over the winter get the first open slots once the ground thaws.
How do you keep patios and retaining walls from heaving?
Frost heave happens when water in the soil freezes and expands. We dig out to a proper depth, install and compact a crushed-aggregate base in layers, and plan drainage so water moves away from the structure instead of sitting under it. Retaining walls get drain tile and clean backfill behind them. That base work is what separates a patio that lasts from one that's lumpy in a few winters.
Does my retaining wall need a permit?
Often, depending on height and your city. In many Minnesota cities, walls over about 4 feet need a permit and an engineered design, and walls near property lines or easements can have their own rules. We check your city's requirements during planning and tell you what applies before we quote.
Do you call for utility locates before digging?
Yes, every time. Minnesota law requires a Gopher State One Call locate before excavation, and we request it ourselves before any digging project. Private lines like irrigation, invisible dog fences and landscape lighting aren't marked by the locate. Point those out to us.
What plants hold up in the South Metro?
We pick plants rated for zone 4 and 5 winters, then match them to your site's sun, soil and drainage. Plants near driveways and streets also need to tolerate road salt. We'll recommend hardy natives and proven performers over plants that look good at the garden center and die the first January.
How is a landscape project priced?
After an on-site consultation we put together a written proposal covering scope, materials and price. What drives cost is mostly size, access for equipment, base and drainage needs, and material choice. We don't quote patios and walls sight-unseen.
